Incandescent Bulb Life

Instruction Booklet
3 to 5 hour bulb life?
You might wonder if
only a 3 to 5 hour bulb life could be correct for the Mila
Otoscope. You might say to yourself ....."My incandescent light
bulbs I use to light my home last much longer than this."
What you must realize is when using a small standard #222
incandescent bulb to produce enough light to see into a small
dark ear canal you must increase the voltage above what is the
recommended amount for that bulb. This causes the bulb to burn
hotter and brighter than it normally would but with the downside
of cutting your bulb life rather dramatically.
You will notice below the recommended replacement bulb is a
2.3Volt #222 bulb even though the otoscope uses 2 AA
batteries to power it. Each battery produces 1.5 volts of
electricity. Ran in series the 2 batteries supply 3Volts
of electricity to a bulb meant to handle only 2.3 Volts.
Thus a brighter hotter light but a short time before the bulbs
filament is burnt out.

Lifetime Warranty
Doctor Mom Otoscope carries a lifetime guaranty against defects
in workmanship. Should the unit fail to function under
conditions of normal use, simply return the unit and it will be
repaired or replaced free of charge. This guaranty also covers
the LED bulb. The warranty does exclude units that exhibit signs
of use or abuse beyond normal and sensible wear and tear. |
